A mild week

It’s been a fairly mild week, without much wind, with temperatures getting as high as 15c this week. All that changed on Sunday, though, as we caught the fringes of Storm Ashley when it suddenly became very wet and very blustery with some 50mph/80kmh southwesterly gusts, although still mild at 14c.

It about 11 weeks since I resumed running after a long lay-off and I’m now back to running on average 6 day-a-week. When I resumed running on August 3rd I struggled. I had gained about 7kg over the 18 months when I didn’t run so the running intensity was low, and it felt hard. Since then, I’ve lost that weight through a combination of running and eating healthily.

I’m now adding in some hills, intervals and tempo runs and will look to increase my weekend long run as the weeks progress. I ran the Great Scottish Run half marathon as a training run at 5:58km pace a couple of weeks ago and that felt good. My next marathon is Bologna on 2nd March 2025 so I have plenty of time to get back into some sort of race shape.
